If you want to be a great artist, you don’t need to go to school: practice and experience are what count most. As creative problem solvers, technologists are not unlike artists. Unsurprisingly, a debate is raging about how vital a degree is for tech developers (e.g., see my recent post on Paypal cofounder Peter Thiel’s anti-college vendetta). In Mashable’s Warning: A Computer Science Degree May Be a Waste, Todd Wasserman quotes numerous industry pros on the issue, including 10x’ers Michael Solomon (founder), Erik Zuuring and Yuri Niyazov (developers).
