What is 10x Management?

10x is a tech talent agency. We have a roster of senior freelance technologists and small teams - developers, coders, data scientists, cybersecurity experts, designers, and others - whom we represent and can quickly match to solve tech problems that companies of all sizes encounter. See a complete list of our skills here, and feel free to ask if you don't see what you need.

What makes 10x better?

Handpicked curation is what separates 10x Management from most of the other resources currently available. We extensively vet all of our tech talent and spend time with the companies we work with to understand all the elements that make their project unique. We're able to match our 10x-ers to projects so effectively that 95% of customers end up contracting with the first 10x-er we propose. Think of 10x as your personal shopper - we find out exactly what you need and present a vetted, exceptional candidate to you, drastically reducing the time to product development and relieving you of having to do the heavy lifting yourselves.

What is the benefit of working with 10x as opposed to finding a freelancer on my own?

We interview and thoroughly vet our talent, ensuring that you have access to some of the most elite tech talent in the world. We have a waiting list of thousands of freelancers hoping to join our elite roster. With over a decade in business and thousands of engagements under our belts, we know our process works, and we work tirelessly to earn your trust and business every day. We intimately know our roster of 10x-ers, helping us rapidly match you with the right person/team, often within 48 hours.

Am I paying extra to work with 10x?

There is no fee to work with 10x. We are paid by our talent ‐ we get a percentage of whatever our 10x-er earns.

How does 10x vet their talent?

We have an intensive interview process that includes technical vetting, personality interviews, reference checks, and cyberstalking. We place equal value on technical capabilities, professionalism, and interpersonal skills. Often, new talent is referred to us by current 10x-ers or past customers – so by the time they get to us, we have a good sense of who they are, what they're capable of, and where they've been.

Are your 10x-ers offshore?

Most 10x-ers live in the United States or Canada. We also have a small group of talented 10x-ers that live outside North America, but are nearshore - South America, Western Europe, etc.

Do I get to choose from a list of candidates?

10x does not have a public database of candidates. Part of our successful formula is our keen ability to select and present the best fit for the engagement based on the needs of each project. If the person/team we suggest isn't right, we will use your feedback to go back to our roster and handpick the next selection. 95% of the time the first suggestion we make is the one that the customer engages.

How do you decide who is the best fit?

We determine fit based on all of the parameters of a project. We examine the needs and goals of each project and align those needs with the technical and interpersonal skills of our 10x-ers. When possible, we also factor in the interests of our 10x-er, so we can find an individual or team that is not only qualified to work on your project but also interested in your field of business and/or the problem you are solving.

I am concerned about Intellectual Property (IP). What do I own at the end of the project if I am contracting a 10x-er to build something for me?

Everything you pay for, you own. Sometimes, extra terms are put into contracts that define IP transfer in greater detail at the request of our customers but simply put, if you pay for the work, the work is yours. Almost all of our engagements are work for hire and all of this is clearly stated in our simple engagement agreements.

Are your clients willing to travel for meetings or to work with our team at times?

Yes.

What are your rates?

Pricing is unique to each project. In general, our rates fall in the range of $150-$250 per hour and can go up to as high as $700 per hour based on a wide variety of factors. There are some exceptions where hourly rates may be lower as well.

Why should I hire a 10x-er when I can find an offshore, or cheaper option?

An educated consumer is our best customer. While you may save money upfront on hourly rates, cheap solutions often yield undesirable results - leaving you back at square one, having to redo a fair amount of work. Many of the companies we work with, come to us with “spaghetti code” written by inexpensive engineers, which typically requires a complete rebuild.

Evaluating the cost of expert contractors should always be done in the context of the alternative. How much will you realistically save with inexpensive engineers, considering the potential long-term cost in technical debt and the time it will take to get to an actual working product.

Finally, do you have the in-house expertise to evaluate the work performed by the offshore team?

Do you ever provide discounts?

Our 10x-ers will sometimes discount their pricing for the following reasons:
  • They love the problem they'd be working on for you, and are excited to tackle it.
  • A large volume of work (long or large contracts; think bulk discount).
  • Supporting a cause they value.
  • They want to increase their expertise in a language that is not their top skill (we would of course disclose this up front).

Our average customer does 5.8 engagements with us.

Hiring technical talent doesn't have to be painful.

If you're tired of posting jobs and sifting through countless resumes, let 10x streamline the process by connecting you with a technologist perfectly suited to your needs.
