As an agency that represents the best-of-the-best in freelance technologists, we have seen a spike in requests from customers looking for skilled developers in Bitcoin and Blockchain. This likely has to do with the recent frenzy of companies hoping to join the trend, ranging from creating new types of cryptocurrencies to securing an existing currency-trading platform.
When I came across this article in Fast Company, I wasn’t surprised at all by the fact that Bitcoin is now at the top of the list of the “fastest-growing freelance skills in demand,” as it’s definitely something our agents have noticed at 10x Management. Companies will come to us looking for contractors’ help because more often than not, contractors are better equipped to learn new skill sets than their full-time counterparts.
In a recent study by Upwork and the Freelancers Union, 65% of freelancers believe they are better prepared for the future of work, because they are always looking to update their skills, as opposed to only 45% of full-time workers. The study then goes on to explain that 49% of freelancers agree that their work has already been affected by automation and robots!
It makes sense why freelancers continually prepare themselves for the future of work. Bitcoin is looking like it will continue to draw more and more interest, and as companies turn towards implementing AI into their operations, other skills like robotics and machine learning will also creep up to the top of the list.
